Harley G. Lappin, Director
U.S. Bureau of Prisons
320 First Street, NW
Washington, DC 20534

Dear Mr. Lappin:

It has come to my attention that Leonard Peltier #89637-132, an inmate at the U.S. Penitentiary in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, is in dire need of medical attention.

I believe that Mr. Peltier’s medical needs are urgent. He needs to be seen by proper medical staff. Therefore, I respectfully request that Leonard Peltier be transferred to FCI-Oxford in Wisconsin or FMC-Rochester in Minnesota. Either of these facilities can adequately accommodate Mr. Peltier’s medical needs.

Thank you in advance for transferring Leonard Peltier and immediately addressing his medical needs!

Sincerely,

MAICOL LEROY CONCERT REVIEW

CONCERT REVIEW by Jude Arnold HOTEL PLAYA NEGRA, Santa Cruz, Costa Rica
MAICOL LEROY was hired by Lito, the owner of Hotel Playa Negra, to entertain the Michael McDonald Family, who had rented the entire hotel over the Xmas holidays. I was fortunate enough to attend. It was Thursday, December 30, 2010. The family had been there for over a week. I was hoping it was the Michael McDonald, singer songwriter; and that he’d “discovery” this great local talent by recording one of Leroy’s creations. It was the Michael McDonald movie producer, instead!
Maicol performed two sets with his “Leroy GuitHarp” (patent pending) combining polished guitar and harmonica riffs. They were beautiful songs in both languages, Spanish and English; some of people’s favorites that he’s written “Dulce Lorena” (Sweet Lorena) and “Morning Moon”; and some very famous old Americana favorites “Veranillo” (Summertime) and “Quienientos Millas”(500 Miles) as well as Mexican “Cielito Lindo” and the Costa Rican “Luna Liberiana”, all songs off his recent CDs – “Maicol Leroy” and “San Juanillo”. He also sang from his newest CD, “San Juanillo” “Deliquiti”, “Papucho” and “Yegua Salvaje”. For his upcoming recording he plans to include “La Puerta Negra” (The Black Door, a popular, modern Romeo and Juliet story.)
I adore Maicol Leroy. He is as committed to the Music as anyone I know personally. It was in his blood as an infant. He learned to play guitar as a child, studying folk, bluegrass, blues, and Flamenco guitar. He has also invented his own brand of finger picks. He’s got all the things going on of an expert, genius guitar player. Plus his invention, the “Leroy GuitHarp” (patent pending) allows for tremendous precision on the harmonica. And his vocal instrument is equally honed. His songwriting- perfect, beautiful, can’t get them out of your head, wanna sing along songs! He practices everyday and says, “The Music is what I do!” And he’s very easy on the eyes, too! You already know, I think he just needs to be discovered! He’s the best!
During the first set, behind Maicol, 6 school boys unselfconsciously danced! Ticos were sitting at the bar while other people watched the sunset. During the break, Pedro, Lito’s elderly father, came over and told Maicol how much he loved his music. Pedro is from Switzerland, Spain and London. Pedro loves the old Americana songs and even sang a few while reminiscing. Maicol said this was his favorite part of the evening. That Pedro liked his music! Then during the second set, while the family was gathering for dinner, they all danced: Mothers and sons; fathers and daughters; brothers and sisters. It was really lovely. Maicol Leroy and his music had worked their magic.
And if you “Love the Music”, you’ll want to follow Maicol Leroy!
